I Dig Benicia!

An Official California Archaeology Month Event, October 2018

Sponsored by the Benicia Historical Museum, Benicia Historical Society, and Archaeological Research Facility at UC Berkeley

Benicia is home to many important archaeological sites associated with Native Californians and later European, American, and Chinese settlers. Visit the museum on October 20th from 11am-2pm to learn about archaeology and Benicia’s rich history as you try your hand at excavating artifacts, reconstructing archaeological finds, grinding corn, drawing Native American pictographs, shaping clay pots, creating cave paintings, and more!  Come meet and talk with archaeologists from UC Berkeley and learn about what archaeologists do.  See archaeological material found right here in Benicia and discover archaeological treasures housed in the Museum.   Entry to the Museum exhibits is free!
